Myanmar to host next conference in 2014

March 2nd 2012,  KUALA LUMPUR: The 12th Conference of Asean Ministers Responsible for Information (Amri) will be held in Myanmar in February 2014.Myanmar’s information deputy minister Soe Win, who serves as vice-chairman for the 11th Amri, said he was eager to replicate Malaysia’s success in hosting this year’s conference.

“We are encouraged by the successful conclusion of the three-day conference and we look forward to hosting information delegates from around the region next in Nyapidaw, Myanmar’s capital city,” he said.

Philippines presidential communications operations office secretary Hermino B. Colomo Jr also expressed his satisfaction in the discussion of unity at the conference.

“I am happy to note that all the Asean member countries have a common aspiration to promote the concept of 1Asean community.”

He stressed that social media was an important tool to engage the public in his country with 90 million mobile phone users and 30 million netizens.
