YANGON (AFP) - Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi's political
party on Monday decried what it described as 'unfair treatment' by the
authorities ahead of April 1 by-elections.
The National League for Democracy (NLD) said
in a statement that people in one village in north-west Sagaing were
forced by the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) to
attend one of its meetings.

It said the army-backed USDP had also donated about US$440 (S$553) to a local school and promised the same amount again if the party wins in next month's polls, without saying whether it was USDP or government funds.
'This is unacceptable and against the election laws,' the statement said.
