Feb 29, 2012, Radio New Zealand - Myanmar pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has survived a legal challenge to her candidacy for Parliament.
A divisional election commission rejected a challenge by her rival in
the April by-election who had accused her of benefiting from money from
abroad, the BBC reports.
Ms Suu Kyi has family in Britain, but the commission agreed with her lawyers that her complaint was groundless.
Her party boycotted the last elections but has now rejoined the political process amid reform in Myanmar.
Ms Suu Kyi was released from house arrest in November 2010.
