Alstom T&D India has delivered the 230kV transmission project worth EUR15m in Myanmar to Power Grid Corporation of India.
Under the deal, Alstom supplied a 220/66/33kV
AIS substation for the 230kV transmission project, which connects the
3x40MW Thahtay Chaung hydro power project to the electrical grid.
Alstom T&D India was also responsible for the design, engineering, supply, and commissioning of the substation.
The
contract covered supply of associated products, including substation
automation systems, power transformers and network management systems,
as well as high voltage substation maintenance.
The project is expected to be commissioned in 2015.
Alstom
T&D India managing director Rathin Basu said, "Alstom is pleased to
support Powergrid's initiatives in transforming the energy landscape
not only in India but also in neighbouring countries like Myanmar."
Alstom
said only 25% of the population in Myanmar has access to the national
grid, which allows opportunities for development in the fields of power
generation, transmission and distribution.
The company has already
built the load dispatching systems in Bangladesh and Bhutan, as well as
several regional dispatching systems in India.
