ALOR GAJAH, May 24 (Bernama) -- The Melaka Immigration Department
detained 68 illegal immigrants, including two married couples, Thursday
night and on Friday, for numerous offences in two separate raids the
state.
They comprised Myanmar, Indonesian, Pakistani and Nepalese nationals.
Their offences included overstaying in the country, abusing visit pass and illegal entry.
Department director Kamalludin Ismail said in the first raid at a flat
in the Kelemak Industrial area here about 11pm, a team of enforcement
personnel nabbed the two Myanmar couples who had converted two separate
units into sundry shops.
He said 18 other foreigners were also detained in the vicinity of the flats.
Kamalludin said in the second raid at a kongsi house in Paya Rumput
Perdana, in Melaka Tengah, about two hours later, 46 suspects were
picked up.
