KIA blows off 3 bridges in Myanmar's Kachin state

YANGON, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The ethnic Kachin Independence Army ( KIA) has blown off three bridges in Myanmar's northernmost Kachin state over the last three days in a series of exchange of fire with the government forces, official media reported Friday.

The Dunban Bridge on the Myitgyina-Chepwe road was blast off around mid-night on Tuesday, leaving a crater on the floor of the bridge, while the other two -- a concrete bridge on the Waingmaw-Hsadon-Kanpaikti road and a bailey bridge near Warazut village on the Myitgyina-Tanaing road were blown off on Wednesday, said the New Light of Myanmar.

The floor and iron beam under the floor the latter two bridges were respectively damaged, affecting the transport link, the report added.
