China Guangxi products exhibition opens in Myanmar

YAGNON, March 30 (Xinhua) -- China Guangxi products exhibition was opened at the Myanmar Convention Center (MCC) in Yangon Friday aimed at further enhancing and deepening friendly exchanges and trade cooperation between the two nations.
Attending the event were Yang Daoxi, Vice Governor of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, Li Junhua, Chinese ambassador to Myanmar, Liu Shu Shen, Chief Officer of Commerce of Guangxi Hang Autonomous Region of China and Myanmar Minister of Commerce U Win Myint.

More than 300 entrepreneurs from various industries, commercial associations and celebrities participated in the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Organized by the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, Myanmar Commerce Ministry's Directorate of Trade and the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), the four-day expo will run until Monday.

With 100 booths of 99 exhibitors, over 100 enterprises from 14 cities of Guangxi, are presenting 1,000 types of their famous and special products in such categories as machinery and electronic products, metals, minerals, chemicals, light industrial products, artistic crafts, foodstuffs, textile, garment, medicine and healthcare products.

Vice Governor Yang is convinced that the exhibition will bring more opportunities, further strengthen their traditional friendship and draw a bright new chapter for win-win cooperation.

Li Junhua, Chinese ambassador to Myanmar,said that the expo is expected to create more opportunities for business people of both countries and will further become an important platform for promoting bilateral trade relationship.

A China Guangxi-Myanmar Investment and Trade seminar and project signing ceremony and "Go Out to Myanmar-Guangxi Tourism Caravan" were also attached.

In 2011, bilateral trade between Guangxi and Myanmar reached 56.19 million U.S. dollars, up 197 percent from 2010.

The bilateral trade had been increased 30 percent annually to 18.9 million dollars in 2010 from 9.33 million dollars in 2008.

The bilateral trade between Myanmar and China amounted to 5.2 billion dollars in the fiscal year 2010-11 while their border trade shows 1.8 billion dollars in 2010-11.
