SEPANG: British Prime Minister David Cameron, who was on a two-day official visit to Malaysia, left for Myanmar Friday before heading home.
Cameron was seen off at the KL International Airport by Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Richard Riot, Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir and British High Commissioner to Malaysia Simon Featherstone.
The
visit, the first by Cameron after being elected Prime Minister in May
2010 and the first for a British prime minister in almost 20 years, saw
the reinforcement of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Cameron was accompanied by Britain's Deputy Trade and Investment Minister Lord Stephen Green
and Deputy Minister of Universities and Science David Willets together
with a delegation comprising government officials, business leaders and
the British media.
On Thursday, Najib and Cameron held bilateral
talks for about an hour at Seri Perdana with discussions covering
political and diplomatic relations, trade and investment, education and
training, science, technology and environment, as well as, defence and
security.
His visit precedes that of Britain's Royal Couple
Prince William and Princess Katherine, who will visit Johor in September
as part of their tour to several countries in conjunction with Queen
Elizabeth II's diamond jubilee celebrations. - Bernama
