Dr. Daw Khin San Yi, Deputy Minister for National Planning and Economic Development, and Unicef Resident Representative Ramesh Shrestha, signed basic cooperation agreement (BCA) in Nay Pyi Taw recently as the two parties view further cooperation, China's Xinhua news agency quoted a report by the New Light of Myanmar.
The agreement covers young children survival and development, accessibility of water, environmental cleanliness and personal hygiene, access to basic education and gender equality, HIV/AIDS and children, protection of children, supervision and assessment of social policy.
Myanmar and Unicef established relations in 1950, according to UNICEF.
Unicef has also been engaged in Myanmar's relief work based on its core commitments to children.
Unicef works on protection of children, basic education for children, rural health services, community water supply, sanitation, HIV/AIDS prevention, early childhood development as well as immunization programmes.
Unicef, founded in 1950, is the world's leading development organisation working for the well-being of children.
