Political thaw sees boom in Burma holiday demand

Leading Asia specialist, Travel Indochina, is continuing to experience a surge of interest in Burma, prompting the award-winning tour operator to add three additional departures on its 13-day “Burma Revealed” small group journey in October, November and December 2012.

Burma has remerged on the tourism trail following a recent loosing of the political climate in the country and the election of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi to parliament.

Since joining Travel Indochina’s portfolio earlier this year, the Buddhist nation has proved a particularly popular seller for travel agents, who have inspired clients with images of a land full of lush landscapes, unspoilt beaches and ancient Buddhist temples that have remained largely unexplored by international travellers.

Following unprecedented high demand, Travel Indochina’s 13-day journey has been running at full capacity, with tours sold out several months prior to departure.

By March 2012, places had been filled on all tours to Burma in October, November and December – encouraging the team to run additional departures on its 13-day “Burma Revealed” escorted journey during these months.

The extra departures will operate on October 15th, November 19th and December 13th 2012.
